2023: Again, PDP Adjusts Primary Election Timetable
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has again adjusted its schedule of activities/primary election timetable for the 2023 general elections.
The National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu, and National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, made this known in a letter addressed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to the opposition PDP, it decided to adjust the primary election timetable due to unforeseen circumstances.
The party said the gubernatorial primaries, which were initially fixed for May 21 but were shited to May 23, will now take place on May 25.
It said the State House of Assembly primaries will take place on May 21, while the primaries for the House of Representatives will hold on May 22.
The party added that the Senatorial District primaries will hold on May 23 while the senatorial district primaries in the South East will take place on Tuesday, May 24 due to the sit-at-home order being observed on Mondays.
In the letter, the PDP said its special convention where the party’s presidential candidate will be elected will take place on May 28.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday inaugurated Screening Committees for State House of Assembly aspirants across the 36 states of the federation.
The committee was inaugurated by APC Deputy National Chairman (North), Senator Abubakar Kyari, at the party’s secretariat in Abuja.
Kyari said the committee is in charge of elections of the ward and state delegates that will elect governorship candidates and the presidential candidate of the party.
