2023: Amaechi Begins Consultation, Visits Emir Of Daura, Others

Nigeria’s Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has commenced consultations on his 2023 presidential ambition.

The former Rivers State Governor was in Katsina State, Daura precisely on Monday to seek the blessing of the Emir of Daura, Dr. Umar Faruq, Naija News reports.

Amaechi was accompanied to Katsina by Borno Senator Ali Ndume among others.

The media aide to the presidential aspirant, David Iyofor, revealed this in a post on his Twitter page on Monday.

“Emir Umar just finished praying for and blessed his Dan Amanar, Amaechi to proceed with courage in the race for APC 2023 Presidential ticket”, the spokesman tweeted.

Recall that Amaechi was conferred the traditional title ‘Dan Amanar Daura’, meaning trusted son of Daura months ago in Buhari’s hometown.

Naija News understands that Amaechi had earlier paid a visit to Kano State before proceeding to President Muhammadu Buhari‘s hometown.

The minister visited the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, and the Emir of Bichi, Nasir Ado Bayero to seek their support for his presidential ambition.

The trip to the Northern States followed Amaechi’s declaration of intent last Saturday in Rivers State capital, Port Harcourt.

Meanwhile, a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Ikeobasi Mokelu, has reportedly joined the 2023 presidential race.

The former Minister of Information and an ally to President Muhammadu Buhari, is making moves to engage party members in the South-East and in his Ubolo Unodu Ward 1, Oraifite, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State, the PUNCH reports.

The politician who served under the Sani Abacha regime has reportedly made clear plans to obtain the APC expression of interest and nomination forms and would make a public declaration soon, Naija News learnt.

The ex-minister was said to have been assured of support by some elements in the presidency.
