2023: Atiku Set To Return To Nigeria On Sunday
The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, is expected back in the country on Sunday, August 28.
Recall that Atiku travelled out of the country on Monday after attending the Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Lagos.
While in London, the former Vice President met with Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and some PDP Governors including Samuel Ortom (Benue), Seyi Makinde (Oyo) and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia).
This development comes hours after Governor Wike alongside some of his colleagues returned to the country after spending some days in London, the United Kingdom.
Speaking upon his return to the country on Friday, Wike confirmed that he held political meetings with some 2023 presidential candidates and former President Olusegun Obasanjo while outside the country.
He however stated that the meetings were not partisan but targeted at making Nigeria better for everyone as the nation is facing numerous challenges.
Naija News reports Wike gave the confirmation while speaking with journalists at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa in Ikwerre Local Government Area upon his return to Rivers State from London.
The Rivers governor arrived in the company of Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom and his Abia State counterpart, Okezie Ikpeazu.
Speaking further, Wike threw shades at politicians who are keen to perpetuate themselves in power as well as others who are replacing themselves with children and other close relatives.
He described such happenings within Nigeria’s political landscape as unfortunate.
Wike stated that consultations are still ongoing for 2023 and no final decision has been reached.
