2023: Atiku, Wike Peace Talks ‘Crumble’

The move to reconcile the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar and the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has reportedly crumbled.

This is coming after some supporters of Governor Wike accused the former vice president of not showing good faith in ending the crisis rocking the main opposition party.

Recall that Governor Wike and Atiku last Thursday met in Abuja to discuss the crisis within the party.

The crisis started after Atiku decided to pick the Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa as the party’s vice presidential candidate.

Atiku and Governor Wike during the meeting agreed to form a committee to resolve the issues rocking the party.

A source close to one of the governors in support of Wike while speaking with Daily Sun said the peace movement of the PDP might crumble.

He further stated that loyalists of Governor Wike are pissed that Atiku invited four of Wike’s loyalists from his state to a meeting in Abuja.

The source said, “Those invited included a former senator and former member of the House of Representatives. If you are talking of reconciliation, leave out that kind of move. Atiku is behaving as if he has already won the election. The other governors with Wike are of the view that if Atiku wants reconciliation, he should come out clean. He should not undermine Wike.”
