2023: Atiku, Wike Reconciliation Collapses

The hope of reconciliation between the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike was dashed on Monday.

Naija News had earlier reported that Governor Wike accused Atiku of picking his enemies into his presidential campaign Council.

Governor Wike claimed that Atiku did not consult him as the state Governor before choosing members of his campaign council from the state.

The Rivers State Governor who had clearly stated that he would not campaign for his party’s presidential candidate might have vocalised the mind of his allies.

Governor Wike and four aggrieved governors under the PDP had recently pulled out of the campaign council of Atiku over northern dominance in key positions in the party.

There are indications that the five governors identified as G-5 might not be campaigning for Atiku ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

We Can’t Confirm Makinde’s Support For Atiku – Oyo PDP

The Oyo State chapter of the PDP on Monday disclosed that it can not confirm Governor Seyi Makinde’s support for Atiku in 2023.

Governor Makinde is an ally of the Rivers State Governor who had also stood against northern dominance in the party and called for the resignation of the party’s national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

PDP’s spokesman in Oyo State, Akeem Olatunji in a chat with Leadership noted that he could not say if Makinde would campaign for Atiku.

Olatunji when asked if the state Governor will support Atiku said, “I cannot speak on whether the governor will campaign or support the party’s candidate.”

Speaking on whether Governor Makinde’s relationship with Wike is affecting PDP in the state, he said, “Nothing is wrong with the party. The party is okay”.
