2023: Atiku’s Photo Missing As Rivers PDP Launches Campaign Vehicles

The picture of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar is missing as the Rivers State chapter of the party prepares to launch branded vehicles for the campaign.

The Rivers State chapter of the PDP is all set to unveil the branded vehicles on Monday (today), alongside the campaign council secretariat of the party.

The party’s campaign council secretariat is located along Woji Road in GRA, Port Harcourt.

Former Chairman of PDP in the state, Felix Obuah was appointed as the director-general, while the state Governor, Nyesom Wike is the chairman of the council.

A former member of the House of Representatives, Ogbonna Nwuke while speaking on the development in an interview with the Leadership said the fact that the campaign vehicles are customized in PDP colours confirms that Governor Wike and four other aggrieved governors are still in the party.

Governors Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu) and Seyi Makinde (Oyo) had threatened not to support Atiku if the national chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu is not removed.

Nwuke said: “I haven’t seen the buses myself. I will have the opportunity to confirm it when the campaign office opens its doors to the public on Monday. If as you said, the branded buses are not carrying images of Atiku, it shouldn’t come as a surprise.

“Members of the G5 (Five PDP Governors) have vowed to remain in the PDP. The fact that the buses are emblazoned in PDP colours is a confirmation of their membership in the party.

“It is on record that the G5 has withdrawn from the Atiku campaign council. If, as you said, the buses are not carrying Atiku’s face, it will ordinarily mean that the G5 states have kept faith with their pledge not to campaign for Atiku if he refuses to listen to demands for fair play in the PDP.”

He further stated that the decision to omit Atiku’s picture is a fulfilment of Governor Wike and his camp to stay out of the Atiku campaign.

The former lawmaker expressed hope that PDP in his plan to reconcile aggrieved members will guarantee inclusiveness.
