2023 Elections: PDP Finally Clears Ozigbo To Contest Senate Seat

2023 Elections: PDP Finally Clears Ozigbo To Contest Senate Seat

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Anambra governorship election, Valentine Ozigbo, has been cleared to contest the Senate seat in the 2023 elections.

Recall that Ozigbo was earlier disqualified by the party’s screening committee from the party’s primaries ahead of the 2023 senatorial election.

The five-man screening committee said in its report that Ozigbo was screened out because of his case at the Supreme Court over the November 6 governorship election.

However, in a new report signed by its Chairman, Udeh Okoye, the committee said Ozigbo is now cleared to contest the Anambra South Senatorial District seat in the National Assembly.

The panel also confirmed that the senators representing Anambra North and Anambra Central Senatorial Districts in the National Assembly, Stella Oduah and Uche Ekwunife respectively, have been cleared.

In its report, the panel stated that Chief Chris Ubah, Ezebiakwa Peace, Tony Nwoye, John Emeka and Obinna Uzoh have also been screened and cleared.

The committee said the only aspirant that was disqualified out of the nine candidates screened was Senator Chuma Nzeribe based on false information.

It said the former Senator was not cleared due to being declared wanted by existing court order and denial that he had not been tried by any court of law.

The panel said Nzeribe misled the party by not declaring his status in the eyes of the law and as a man who jumped bail and was declared wanted.
