2023: Emefiele Interested In Presidential Race – CBN Gov’s Lawyer
The lawyers to the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, Mike Ozekhome’s chamber on Monday disclosed that his client has presidential ambition in the 2023 race.
A lawyer from the chamber, Maliki Sylvanus, revealed this in an affidavit in support of Emefiele’s originating summons filed before a Federal High Court, Abuja Division and marked FHC/ABJ/CS/610/2022.
The affidavit tendered before the court is contrary to Emefiele’s statement on Friday, claiming to be waiting on God on the next decision to make.
Sylvanus, in the four-page affidavit, wrote, “That the facts deposed to herein be within my knowledge except as otherwise stated, and was duly informed by the plaintiff, Mr Godwin Emefiele.
“That the plaintiff is a Nigerian citizen, economist, banker, and financial expert who has been serving as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria since June 4, 2014.
“That the plaintiff aspires to seek election to the office of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and participate as a candidate in the upcoming 2023 presidential elections.”
This is coming after the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja summoned the Attorney General of the Federation and Independent National Electoral Commission to appear on the reason a motion ex parte filed by Emefiele, should not be granted.
