2023: Man Shuns Security Threats, Begins Trekking From Gombe To Abuja In Support Of Tinubu

Despite the current security threats in the Northern parts of the country, a man on Monday reportedly began walking from Gombe to Abuja as proof of support for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.

The 31-year-old man, Mohammed Umar, was said to have departed his state earlier today to embark on the 425-kilometre walk.

Naija News learnt that Umar had met with reporters in the state earlier before starting his walk, assuring them of his unwavering support for the former Governor of Lagos State to win the 2023 presidential election.

The middle-aged man is said to be a member of the TinKas Tinubu/Shettima Support Group.

In his address earlier, Umar informed the press that the support group has been mobilising support in the Northeast for the APC to ensure its victory at all levels in the 2023 general election.

“Tinubu has picked our own, Sen. Kashim Shettima as his running mate; the best we can do for him is to mobilise support to secure massive votes for them from the Northeast.

“Tinubu has shown capacity and competence, same for Shettima; so supporting their candidature to ensure victory in 2023 will be for the benefit of Nigerians.

“I am also going to Abuja to personally invite our leaders, Sen Tinubu and Shettima to come and open our campaign office in Gombe State,” Peoples Gazette quoted Umar saying.

“I have some malaria drugs with me should I fall sick in the course of the walk to Abuja,” said the father of three who boasted that he was prepared for the walk.

“I have the support of my family in this endeavour; I have the full support and blessings of my family members,” Umar added.

2023: Wike Voices Out On Why He Won’t Campaign For Atiku

Earlier on Monday, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike declared that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, will not get his contribution to his presidential campaign activities ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Explaining why he is turning his back on the PDP candidate, Wike said the former vice president had appointed his enemies into his presidential campaign Council.

Naija News reports that Wike’s initial argument is that the party’s national chairman, Iyorchi Ayu, must resign.

Wike and four other aggrieved governors on the platform of the PDP had resolved to withdraw their support for Atiku if Ayu maintained his position as the party’s chairman.

Despite several moves to pacify Wike, the Rivers State Governor on Monday, while addressing party stakeholders and supporters in Port Harcourt during the Inauguration of the state PDP Campaign Rally, said the PDP candidate picked those he wants to work with in Rivers, adding that “if he wants us to work with him, if he wants us to campaign for him, he would have talked to us.”

Wike added: “They said they don’t want us to campaign for them; if anyone wants us to campaign for them, they will come and meet us. The presidential candidate has chosen enemies of the state as members of his campaign council; even I, the state’s governor, do not have any input.

“If anybody did not accommodate the interest of Rivers state, we will also not have their interest at heart.”
