2023: PDP Chapters Affected By Crisis (Full List)

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in some states is currently battling a crisis with the 2023 general elections at hand.

The National Chairman of the party, Ayu Iyorchia claimed a few days ago that the main opposition party is aiming to win 25 states in the forthcoming elections.

The aim of the National party chairman could be truncated with the crisis rocking some state chapters of the party.

Crisis in some of the state chapters happened before primaries held between last May and June, while others are a result of the outcomes of the selection process for candidates.

In some states, the incumbent governors are battling with winning their second term in office, while some National Assembly members lost their return tickets.

Some of the states affected by the crisis are Oyo, Ogun, Ekiti, Ondo, Osun, Edo, Rivers, Abia, Delta and Anambra.

In Ogun State, the governorship primary of the party produced two candidates at parallel events.

Segun Showunmi and Ladi Adebutu emerged as the party flag bearers at the two primaries held at Iwe-Iroyin Press Centre of the Nigeria Union of Journalists and Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, respectively.

The party would be hoping to resolve the issue between the factions before 2023.

In Ekiti State, the party has been divided into three camps which are led by former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, Senator Abiodun Olujimi and ex-governor, Segun Oni.

The crisis saw the governorship candidate of the party, Bisi Kolawole defeated in the last election.

In Rivers State, some aggrieved governorship aspirants have accused the state governor, Nyesom Wike of imposing a governorship candidate on them.

The state Governor is also not pleased with the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar and had called for the resignation of the party chairman, Ayu.

The party would be hoping to resolve its differences as it goes into the 2023 general elections.
