2023: PDP To Announce Presidential Campaign Council Today
The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has disclosed that it will announce members of the Presidential Campaign Council on Thursday (today).
Naija News reports that the PDP Spokesman, Debo Ologunagba, made this known to reporters after the party’s national caucus meeting on Wednesday at Akwa Ibom Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja.
Ologunagba said the opposition party has finalised the plan to announce members of the campaign council that will work for the victory of its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
He said, “We are ready to go. Members of the campaign council will be announced on Thursday (today), after the NEC meeting.”
Recall that Atiku had named former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye; Nigerian lawyer, Daniel Bwala; and the current Commissioner for Information in Delta State, Charles Aniagwu, as his campaign spokespersons.
Why PDP Governorship Candidates’ Meeting With Wike Ended Well
Governorship candidates elected on the PDP platform may have successfully settled the rift between Abubakar and Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.
Recall that seventeen governorship candidates under the PDP on Tuesday visited the Rivers State Governor.
Naija News had earlier reported that the governorship candidates were led by the flagbearer of the party in Jigawa State, Mustapha Sule Lamido.
The meeting was held with Governor Wike at his private residence in Rumueprikon, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area.
Though details of the meeting were not disclosed, multiple sources, both at Rivers Government House and one of the governorship candidates, told Vanguard that the candidates were able to broker peace between warring parties.
One of the sources said the candidates were able to get a commitment from the Rivers State governor to a ceasefire and work in the party’s interest.
