2023: Politicians Who Have Informed President Buhari Of Their Presidential Ambition
The 2023 General Elections and the clamour for change in the country have seen politicians declare their intention to take over power at the end of President Muhammadu Buhari‘s government.
Presidential campaign posters of top politicians have been spotted in strategic places in their states and the Federal Capital Territory as plans thicken to emerge as the presidential candidate of their respective parties.
Some have even taken further steps to inform President Buhari of their intention to contest in the 2023 general elections.
The likes of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu and the Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi have shared with Buhari their intention to take over power when his administration ends.
The former Governor of Lagos State on the 10th of January, 2022 confirmed he has informed President Buhari of his presidential ambition.
The APC leader disclosed this to State Correspondents after a meeting at the Presidential Villa with Buhari.
Tinubu while noting that he is yet to publicly disclose his ambition, noted that he is still in consultations with various individuals and groups across the country.
Tinubu stated that his ambition to be President has been a life-long ambition, noting that what he did in Lagos in his time as Governor, he has the capacity to do in the entire country.
Umahi on the 11th of January, 2022, confirmed he has informed President Muhammadu Buhari of his 2023 presidential ambition.
Naija News reports that the Ebonyi governor made this known in a chat with State Correspondents on Tuesday after a meeting with Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Umahi disclosed that Buhari directed him to seek the support of the people and consult widely with party members and chieftains across the country.
Meanwhile, a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Kingsley Moghalu, has stated that he does not need to inform President Buhari of his 2023 presidential ambition.
The former presidential candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) made this submission in a post via his verified Twitter handle last Wednesday.
Moghalu disclosed that he has informed Nigerians of his intention to run for President in the 2023 elections under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and does not need to inform President Buhari.
There are indications that some others would still meet with the President to inform him of their ambition.
