2023: Senator Olujimi Speaks On Jonathan Contesting Under APC
The lawmaker representing Ekiti South Senatorial district, Abiodun Olujimi on Saturday expressed confidence that former president, Goodluck Jonathan would not contest the 2023 presidential election under the All Progressives Congress.
Olujimi stated this while answering questions during an interview on Television Continental (TVC).
The lawmaker’s statement is coming days after the Federal High Court sitting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State cleared Jonathan, saying “ he is eligible to contest for Presidency in 2023.”
According to Olujimi, “I am very sure that ex-President Jonathan will not contest under the ruling APC because he is a man of integrity.”
The lawmaker, however, stated that the main opposition party would not resort to a campaign of calumny, unlike the APC which was desperate to wrestle power in 2015.
In a related development, Jonathan has been reportedly adopted as the consensus candidate of the APC ahead of the party’s presidential primary election.
According to SaharaReporters, Mamman Daura and other members of the cabal have reached out to other APC presidential aspirants to step down and support Jonathan as the consensus candidate.
It was learned that the cabals have informed other aspirants not to expect any primary election next week following Jonathan’s adoption as the sole presidential candidate.
