2023: Shehu Sani Mocks Buhari, APC As Ruling Party Conducts Presidential Primaries

Former Kaduna Central lawmaker and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Shehu Sani has thrown a shade at the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), and President Muhammadu Buhari.

The former lawmaker hinted that there is likely indecision on the part of the APC and Presidential Buhari on how to choose the party’s presidential candidate for 2023 without going into a full fledged election at the primaries.

The President and the APC leadership have recommended the intensification of consultation and consensus building to reduce the number of aspirants as it begins its convention which runs from Monday, June 6 to Wednesday, June 8, 2022, Naija News reports.

Though the presidency on Sunday refuted viral reports that the President has backed the zoning of the APC ticket to the south, it confirmed President Buhari has told the Governors to work on producing a consensus candidate.

However, Sani said both Buhari and the APC leadership including State Governors are pushing the responsibility of a possible consensus candidate to one another.

Sani on Monday took to his Twitter account where he wrote: “They are expecting the president to choose and the president is expecting them to choose.”

Meanwhile, the APC has commenced activities to elect its flagbearer for the 2023 presidential election. The primary election is scheduled to take place at the Eagle Square in Abuja.
