2023: Shettima Meets Tinubu After Emergence As APC VP Candidate
Former Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima has spoken on his emergence as the running mate of Bola Tinubu under the All Progressives Congress.
Naija News had earlier reported that Tinubu announced the lawmaker representing Borno Central senatorial district as his running mate.
Shettima in a post on his Facebook page on Monday appreciated the former Governor of Lagos State for picking him as the Vice-Presidential candidate of APC.
The lawmaker met with Tinubu on Monday at the airport in Abuja.
The former Governor of Borno State claimed that he was at an orphanage in Maiduguri when Tinubu announced him as his running mate.
He further stated that the announcement came when he was trying to put a smile on the faces of the children who became orphans because of the Boko Haram attacks.
Shettima wrote, “Thank you for the trust Sir Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Before the official announcement of my nomination as the running mate to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I intended to visit 2 orphanages in Maiduguri (the Abdulateef Zabadne Orphanage Foundation and the Future Assured College) to celebrate with the orphans in the spirit of the Sallah festival.”
“The announcement came in while I was mingling and trying to put a smile on the faces of the kids who mostly became orphans as a result of Boko Haram insurgence.”
