2023: Source Claims When PDP National Chairman, Ayu Would Step Down
The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Iyorchia Ayu has been receiving calls in the past few months to resign from his position.
The call became stronger after Atiku Abubakar emerged as the presidential candidate of the party, coming from the same region as the party chairman.
Some aggrieved governors in the main opposition party have stood their ground that Ayu must go.
A source that spoke with Vanguard, however, stated that the PDP National Chairman would not go until after the 2023 general elections.
According to the source, the party can’t begin to reshuffle its leadership barely seven months before the election.
He claimed that the aim of some people outside the party is for PDP to fail in 2023.
The source noted that Atiku addressed the issue of Ayu resigning from office during his recent interview on Arise TV.
The source said, “Our candidate addressed this issue during his recent interview, our eyes are set on winning this election.
“Once we win, Ayu will step down without prompting. We can’t begin to reshuffle our leadership with barely seven months to this critical election; there are interests outside our party who want to see us fail. God will not allow them.”
