2023: Tinubu’s Romance With Wike Leaves Amaechi In Dilemma
The former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has been left in a dilemma following the relationship between the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu and the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.
Recall that Tinubu and Wike recently met in London to discuss on working together in the 2023 general elections.
Naija News gathered that Tinubu, during the meeting, did not agree to all the demands of the Rivers State Governor.
Wike reportedly had asked for a soft landing for his allies in Oyo, Benue and Abia in the 2023 race.
It was reported that Tinubu saw the demands as magnanimous beyond what he can agree to.
However, Amaechi who remains the leader of APC in Rivers State has been left in the dark on the 2023 plans.
Recall that Amaechi, who lost the presidential ticket of the party, in his congratulatory message to Tinubu had promised to work with him.
Amaechi wrote, “I wish to assure you of my commitment to your success at the polls in 2023 and ultimately look forward to providing the necessary support to ensure that we develop a prosperous country for all Nigerians.”
The former Minister since his defeat has suffered many blows in Rivers State. Many of his political allies have resigned from the APC.
Two former commissioners in the state, George Tolofari and Ibim Semenitari have resigned as well as two other chieftains, Tonye Princewill and Celestine Akpobari.
Amaechi would be facing Wike who has the state resource in the 2023 race, with the federal might less effective over the years in the state.
If the relationship between Tinubu and Wike becomes productive, the former Governor of Lagos State might find it difficult to bring Wike, Amaechi and Magnus Abe to work together.
