2023: Trouble For Okorocha As APC Deny His Membership

The Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has denied the membership of Rochas Okorocha, Senator representing Imo West Senatorial district at the 9th Nigerian Senate.

Naija News understands that the ruling party noted this while denying claims of endorsing the former state governor’s 2023 presidential ambition.

APC revealed in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday through its publicity secretary in the state, Cajetan Duke, that Okorocha has failed to revalidate his membership during APC’s last registration and revalidation exercise.

The party stressed that Imo APC led by Macdonald Ebere, could not pass any vote of confidence in Okorocha due to his ‘melodramatics’ when he was the governor of Imo State.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the leadership of Imo APC declares that Okorocha, representing Imo West at the Senate is as at today, no longer a member of the APC because of his deliberate failure to revalidate his membership of the party during the last registration and revalidation exercise adjudged to be most transparent, open and peaceful,” said Duke in the statement released yesterday.

He added: “It is, therefore, odious and extreme subterfuge for anyone to issue statement indicating that Imo APC, which Okorocha is no longer a member, has endorsed and passed vote of confidence in him to contest for the presidential ticket of our great party.”

The Party’s spokesman claimed that Okorocha lacked character, competence and credibility to be Nigeria’s President.

According to Duke, it would be a mistake with grave consequences if Okorocha is allowed to rule Nigeria.

Naija News reports that Okorocha who had once contested for the Presidency, is yet to publicly declare his intention to joining the 2023 presidential race.
