The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Laing has paid a visit to the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum Chairman and Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal.
Naija News reports that the discussions between the two leaders centered around the 2023 general elections in Nigeria and the security situation in the North West.
During the meeting, Laing reiterated the commitment of the UK government to peaceful and credible elections in Nigeria.
Taking to her Twitter account on Thursday, she wrote: “Good to meet Chairman of the @OfficialPDPNigeria Governor’s Forum, @AWTambuwal, to discuss 2023 elections and the security situation in the North West.
“I reiterated the UK’s commitment to working together with all stakeholders in Nigeria towards peaceful and credible elections.”
Meanwhile, former Governor of Kano State, Musa Kwankwaso, on Thursday confirmed his intention to dump the Peoples Democratic Party for the New Nigeria People Party ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Kwankwaso in an interview with BBC Hausa disclosed that he would announce his next political move before March ends.
This is coming a few days after the former governor while speaking on Nasara FM, in Kano asked Nigerians to look for an alternative to the All Progressives Congress and the PDP in the 2023 general elections.
Kwankwaso who claimed that the main political parties have nothing to offer said, “I didn’t see anything that either APC or PDP will show or tell Nigerians to get convinced and vote for them in the coming 2023 elections.”
