2023: Why Ayu Should Resign As PDP Chairman – Deji Adeyanju
Political analyst, Deji Adeyanju has asked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, to resign from his position.
Taking to his Twitter page on Wednesday, Adeyanju said the former Senate President is a complete liability to the opposition party, adding that his predeccessor, Uche Secondus, was better than him.
He claimed that the PDP leadership under Ayu practised the worst form of corruption by selling tickets to presidential candidates.
The former PDP member said the party cannot have a northern candidate and also a Northern chairman, hence the call for Ayu’s resignation.
Adeyanju wrote: “Iyorcha Ayu should resign as PDP chairman. He is a complete liability to the party. Secondus is a saint compared to him. You can’t have a northern candidate and also a Northern chairman. PDP under him practised the worst form of corruption by selling tickets to candidates.“

Naija News understands that Ayu had reportedly promised to resign when he was elected as Chairman of the party last year if the party chooses a Northerner as a presidential candidate.
After the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential flagbearer, it was expected that Ayu would honour his word and exit the seat for a Southerner as part of efforts for the zoning considerations within the PDP.
Also, loyalists of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State have asked Ayu to resign as part of the condition to resolve the feud between Atiku and the governor.
However, the PDP chairman has maintained that he would not be resigning anytime soon.
