EPL: Crisis At Manchester United As 17 Players Open Up On Leaving
Manchester United may experience even more crisis before the end of the summer as no fewer than seventeen players have expressed their desire to leave the club.
Naija News reports that Ralf Rangnick was confirmed as United interim manager in November 2021, which will last to the end of the season.
English Premier League club had agreed that the German professional coach will continue in a consultancy role for a further two years at Old Trafford.
Barely two months after his appointment, top players at the club have reportedly told Rangnick that they are not happy at Old Trafford.
Daily Mail reports that the players opened up about their intentions during a face-to-face meeting with the German manager.
Rangnick is now aware of the frustrations of some players under his watch as the players lament his style of game.
Naija News reports that United has been in an unbalanced state since the era of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Rangnick since his appointment to head the club has been struggling to make noticeable changes at Old Trafford.
The dressing room is said to be divided, with as many as 11 players looking to leave Old Trafford.
Reports had it that the problem is even bigger than initially feared, with a total of 17 players unhappy with their current situation under Rangnick.
Naija News understands that the likes of Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard are among the players who have opened up on leaving Old Trafford with their contracts ending in less than six months.
While Anthony Martial is keen on joining Sevilla, Juan Mata is also looking to secure a January switch to either Spain or MLS. Edinson Cavani was on his way to Barcelona before his deal was blocked by United this January, but he is expected to depart Old Trafford when his contract expires in the summer.
Also, Donny van de Beek, Dean Henderson and Eric Bailly are all unhappy at their lack of playing time.
Phil Jones also wants regular football, while Nemanja Matic, Fred and Diogo Dalot are entering the final year of their deals.
It was gathered that there are other players still in Rangnick’s squad who are also unhappy but not actively looking to leave.
Naija News reports that Manchester United currently sits in the 7th position on the league table with 22 points behind top Manchester City, though with 2 outstanding games.
The Red Devils would need to win their next match against Aston Villa to prove their readiness to end in the top four.
