2023: PDP Governors Set To Hold Crucial Meeting

Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party are set to hold a strategic meeting on Monday, 17th January, 2022.

The meeting scheduled to hold in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital is to discuss crucial issues ahead of the 2023 general election including plans to reclaim power at the central level of government.

The Director-General of the PDP Governors’ forum Cyril Maduabum who made this known in a statement on Sunday added that the meeting will also discuss the state of the nation and will be presided over by the chairman of the forum, Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State.

Ahead of the meeting, a Gala night to be hosted by the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike will take place.

Naija News reports that the new National Chairman of the party, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu is expected to be in attendance and will rub minds with the Governors on how to move the party forward.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Governors Forum has disclosed plans to meet on Wednesday in Abuja to deliberate on rising insecurity and other challenges facing the country.

Director-General of the NGF, Asishana Okauru, made this known in a statement released on Sunday by the spokesman of the forum, Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo.

He stated that the Chairman of the forum and Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, will preside over the meeting scheduled to hold at the forum secretariat at 8:00 pm.

Bello-Barkindo added that Fayemi would address a press conference on the issues discussed by the governors at the end of the meeting.

The NGF spokesman disclosed that the meeting will be in-person, urging the 36 state governors to attend the crucial meeting.

He said governors will also receive briefings from the NGF’s fiscal transparency, accountability and sustainability (SFTAS) team.
