“You Have Seen The Light” – Senate President Welcomes Emmanuel Bwacha Into APC
Senate President Ahmad Lawan has congratulated Taraba South Senator, Emmanuel Bwacha over his decision to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Senate President while reading the lawmaker’s defection letter during plenary on Tuesday said Bwacha took a most deserving decision.
It will be recalled that Bwacha had dumped the PDP for the APC and was last Thursday, taken to the Aso Rock Villa where he met with President Muhammadu Buhari.
Naija News reports Bwacha was taken to the Villa by the Chairman of the APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), Gov Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State.
On Tuesday, 8th February, a formal letter announcing his defection was read by Lawan on the flor of the Senate.
Bwacha cited “huge division and factionalization” of the PDP in Taraba State as reasons for his defection.
After reading the letter, Lawan said: “Let me congratulate you for taking the most deserving decision to flow along with your constituents who have seen the real thing on the ground,”
“What you have related here is that you have seen the presence of infrastructure in your constituency and your people have identified with the infrastructure and they ask that you see the light and you have seen the light.”
Meanwhile, the Senator representing Taraba North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Shaibu Isa Lau has emerged as the Senate Deputy Minority Leader.
Naija News reports that Senator Lau assumed the position following his appointment by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Minority Caucus.
During plenary on Tuesday, Senate President Ahmad Lawan read a letter from the National Chairman of the PDP, Dr Iyorchia Ayu, announcing the choice of Senator Lau as the new occupant of the post.
