Fayemi Declines Statement On Presidential Ambition
The Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi had declined to express his intention to contest in the 2023 presidential election.
There has been speculation that Fayemi might be seeking to take over power from President Muhammadu Buhari at the end of his tenure.
Fayemi during an interview on Channels TV stated that he would not speak on his presidential ambition.
The Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum further stated that 2023 will deal with itself as God will decide what He has in stock for everyone.
Fayemi when asked to confirm his presidential ambition said, “That is a good try but you won’t get me on that. You promised that you were going to talk to me about judicial autonomy; that is what I am prepared to talk about.
“2023 will deal with itself; it is in the realm of the future and God will decide what He has in stock for every one of us.”
The Ekiti State Governor when questioned again asked the anchor of the show to focus on the judicial and legislative autonomy at the state level.
He added, “I am still the Governor of Ekiti State. I am trying to do that job and finish that job well. I am trying to finish the job that I have on the ground. I am an elected governor of Ekiti State.”
