2023 Presidency: Buhari Backs Anyim To Become Next President
A former presidential aspirant, Ahmed Buhari has backed former Senate President, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
Buhari, who was an aspirant under the platform of Sustainable National Party of Nigeria (SNPN) gave the backing during a recent interview on Arise Television.
The politician stated that it is time for the South East to produce the next President, stressing that it is just fair that the region should have a taste of the presidency.
He also rubbished claims that the South-East does not have capable hands to succeed Buhari come 2023, saying that the South East has eminently qualified persons who have indicated an interest in the job.
Buhari named aspirants from the South East that have declared their presidential ambition as Orji Kalu, Rochas Okorocha, Dave Umahi, Kingsley Mighalu and Anyim Pius Anyim.
He, however, said that among all of them that have indicated an interest in the presidency from South East, former Senate President Anyim stands out.
Buhari said Anyim performance as the Senate President marked him out as one who could be entrusted with leadership and he will be sure to deliver.
Stating further, Buhari recalled Anyim’s role in the office of Secretary to the Government of the federation where he managed rancour-free civil servants without being a career civil servant.
Buhari also noted that Anyim’s disposition on restructuring gives him out as a leader who is ready to listen and carry everyone along.
He, therefore, maintained that Anyim’s roles so far at the national level distinguish him out as one with the best exposure and experience to provide the desired leadership to Nigeria.
