New Zamfara Deputy Gov Nasiha Resigns From Senate
The new deputy Governor of Zamfara State, Muhammad Nasiha has officially resigned as the lawmaker representing Zamfara Central Senatorial District.
This is coming after the state Governor, Bello Matawalle appointed Nasiha as his deputy.
Nasiha replaced Mahadi Ali, who was impeached last week by the Zamfara State House of Assembly.
The Senate President, Ahmed Lawan while reading a letter addressed to the Senate at the plenary, announced Nasiha’s resignation to the Senate.
He noted that Nasiha resigned to become the deputy governor in his state.
Recall that 20 out of 24 lawmakers in the house of assembly last week impeached Gusau.
This happened after a committee set up by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Kulu Aliyu, investigated some allegations levelled against Gusau.
The panel had Justice Halidu Tanko-Soba as Chairman, with Oladipo Okpeseyi (SAN), as Deputy Chairman and Abdul-Atadoga Ibrahim (SAN), Hussaini Zakariyau, (SAN), Amina Tanimu-Marafa, Alhaji Sani Mande and Ahmad Buhari-Rabah, as members.
There were claims that Gusau was impeached following his refusal to dump the Peoples Democratic Party after the defection of the state governor.
