APC Speaks On Buni’s Removal As Caretaker Chairman
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied media reports that Governor Mai Mala Buni has been removed as the chairman of the party’s Caretaker Committee.
A report on ThisDay stated that President Muhammadu Buhari had sacked Buni as the party’s caretaker committee chairman and has appointed Governor Sani Bello of Niger State as the new chairman.
But in a statement on Monday by the National Secretary of the caretaker committee, Sen. John James Akpanudoedehe, the party described the report as fake and baseless.
Akpanudoedehe stated that the report is fake and urged members of the party to disregard the news.
He said the APC is a progressive political party guided by rules, stressing that the party leadership changes are not announced by an unknown source.
The party scribe asked APC members to remain calm and support the caretaker committee to conduct a rancour-free and credible National Convention.
The statement read: “Our attention has been drawn to sponsored media reports on an imaginary leadership change in the APC- CECPC.
“The media report is fake news and should be disregarded. The APC is a progressive political party guided by rules. Leadership changes are not announced by ‘sources’ through name dropping in the media.
“We urge our teeming supporters, members and indeed the general public to remain calm and support the Governor Mai Mala Buni-led APC CECPC conduct a rancour-free and credible National Convention deserving of our great party.”
