APC Removes Dapo Abiodun As Convention Appeal Chairman

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has been removed as the All Progressives Congress (APC) election appeal Chairman.

The South-West state governor was earlier appointed by Governor Mai Mala Buni-led APC caretaker committee to chair the party’s election appeal committee ahead of its national convention slated for March 26, Naija News understands.

However, due to the shuffle as a result of the recent crisis in the party, Governor Abiodun has been relieved of the position.

His counterpart Ekiti State, Governor Kayode Fayemi is now APC’s new election appeal committee.

Fayemi’s appointment was confirmed in a new list of the convention sub-committee members released by the Acting Chairman of the party, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello on Wednesday, Naija News reports.

According to the list, Gov Abiodun is now the Chairman of the Transportation and Logistics Committee.

Meanwhile, the Osun State chapter of the All Progressive Congress, APC has expressed confidence in defeating the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by a landslide in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.

Naija News understands that the 2022 gubernatorial election in the state is scheduled to hold on Saturday, July 16.

In that regard, the opposition PDP held its primaries on Tuesday, ending the exercise dramatically with two candidates emerging as the party’s guber candidates.

Naija News reports that Senator Ademola Jackson Adeleke won the primary held at Osogbo Township Stadium supervised by the PDP primary election committee while Dotun Babayemi emerged in the parallel gubernatorial primary at WOCDIF Centre, Ring Road, Osogbo.

This became so as there were two factions of the party in the state.

Reacting to the development, the ruling APC said the opposition camp has made its job very easy because neither Adeleke nor Prince Babayemi can withstand the status of the incumbent Governor Gboyega Oyetola.

In a statement dated Tuesday, March 8 that was made available to newsmen in Osogbo, APC through its Directorate of Publicity, Research and Strategy, Kunle Oyatomi, said none of the factional candidates of the PDP can compete or serve as a threat to the reelection of Governor Oyetola.
