Smart Adeyemi Speaks On Buhari Sacking Buni As APC Caretaker Chairman
The lawmaker representing Kogi West Senatorial district, Smart Adeyemi has accused people who have interests to protect of generating crisis in the All Progressives Congress.
According to Adeyemi, President Muhammadu Buhari did not inform him and his colleagues that the Caretaker Chairman of the party, Mai Mala Buni has been sacked.
There had been claims that Buni was sacked over a plan to delay the National Convention of party which was fixed for March 26.
Adeyemi while speaking on Channels Tv on Thursday said Buni transmitted power to the Governor of Niger State, Sani Bello due to medical trip to Dubai.
The lawmaker said, “There was a letter written by Mai Mala Buni saying that he was travelling. And in that letter, he did transmit power to the Governor of Niger State.
“As far as we are concerned in the Senate, we are not aware that Mr President gave a marching order to the acting Chairman to vacate his office.”
Recall that the Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai while speaking on Channels Tv had claimed that the APC Caretaker Chairman, Buni had been sacked.
He further stated that the decision to sack Buni was given by president Buhari with the support of 19 governors elected on the platform of the party.
El-Rufai claimed that Buni would not be returning as the Caretaker Chairman of the APC when he returns from his trip.
