Premier League Title Not For Liverpool Despite Beating Arsenal – Merson

Former Arsenal player, Paul Merson has asserted that Liverpool will not win the ongoing English Premier League campaign.

Naija News reports that Jurgen Klopp’s side on Wednesday night beat Arsenal 2-0.

The win helped the Reds to move a point closer to Manchester City.

The match is, however, a setback to Mikel Arteta’s side as the Gunners will now have to beat Aston Villa to keep their hope of a top four alive.

Speaking on Sky Sports shortly after Liverpool beat Arsenal last night, Merson said City will still go on to win the Premier League.

The Pundit believe Pep Guardiola’s side would not give in to defeat even as they prepare to receive Liverpool at the Etihad stadium soon, Naija News reports.

Merson said: “They’re one point behind. I know they can go top if they beat Watford. This team [City] can reel off eight wins on the trot like that.

“And I mean like that. And they can do it again. I’d rather be Man City at the moment, in my opinion.

“They’ve [Liverpool] still got to go to the Etihad and I know Man City, they’re a proper football team.

“If Liverpool turns up at the Etihad and plays as they did in the first half that will be the end of that.”

In another news, unidentified robbers on Tuesday burgled the residence of Manchester United midfielder, Paul Pogba, while his kids were asleep.

Pogba in a statement shared online promised to reward anyone who can provide information on the incident.

The France midfielder disclosed that his house was burgled during the Manchester United clash with Atletico Madrid in their Round of 16 Champions League match.

According to Pogba, the robbers who invaded his residence for less than five minutes have taken their sense of safety and security away.

He stated, “Last night our family’s worst nightmare was realized when our home was broken into and burglarized while our babies were sleeping in their bedroom.

“The burglars were in our home for less than five minutes but in that time they took from us something more valuable than anything we had in our home. our sense of safety and security.
