Buhari Ex-Minister, Solomon Dalung Dumps APC, Gives Reasons
President Muhammadu Buhari’s former minister of sports, Solomon Dalung has dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Dalung, who served in the first term of Buhari’s administration, submitted the letter of his withdrawal from the party to the Ward Chairman of the party in SabonGida Ward, Langtang South LGA of Plateau State.
The letter which was dated April 1, 2022, and signed by Dalung on April 18, 2022, was submitted to the ward.
The letter reads in part, “This is to convey my withdrawal of membership from the All Progressives Congress with effect from the date of this notice.
“It is worthy of mention that recent developments in the party conflict with my core principles of values which define the basis of allegiance to the party.
“Of note is the fact that internal democracy is critical to the survival of representative democracy without which political participation remains a mirage.”
This is coming a few hours after the former Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, dumped the APC for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The development was confirmed to newsmen in an announcement by PDP Chairman in the State, Rt Colonel Bala Mande.
Speaking briefly after a stakeholders’ meeting in Gusau, the state capital today, Col. Bala Mande said they had sat down and finalised the issue of the defection of the duo.
