Emefiele Asked to Resign After Purchasing N100m Nomination Form

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, has demanded the resignation of Godwin Emefiele, the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, after picking the All Progressive Congress nomination form.

SERAP urged the CBN governor to resign immediately as getting involved in politics would distract him from carrying out his duties.

The group said this via Twitter statement on Friday.

The tweet read: “BREAKING: Following reports that the CBN governor Mr Godwin Emefiele has picked the APC N100m presidential nomination form, we urge him to immediately resign his position in line with S. 9 of the CBN Act.

Engaging in politics will conflict with/detract from his full-time duties.”

Reports have it that associates of Emefiele paid N100million for the nomination and expression of interest forms on Friday, at the International Conference Center, Abuja venue of the sale of forms.

Meanwhile, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George has stressed the need for the Lagos chapter of the party to be united going into the 2023 elections.

He stressed that 2023 is a time for the leadership of the state to be taken away from ‘strangers’ but the PDP can’t achieve the aim without the unity of its members.

Naija News reports Chief George made the submission on Friday at his Ikoyi residence when he played host to a presidential aspirant and former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Lagos PDP delegates were also in attendance at the Ikoyi meeting. Read more
