2023: South West May Reach Consensus Soon – Osinbajo

Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo on Friday expressed optimism that presidential aspirants under the All Progressives Congress in South West would soon pick a consensus candidate from the region.

Osinbajo who has expressed his intention to take over from President Muhammadu Buhari stated this ahead of the party’s presidential primary election.

The president aspirant expressed his thought while addressing delegates of the party in Osogbo, the Osun State capital on Friday.

Osinbajo is hoping to clinch the presidential ticket of the party ahead of the National Leader of the party, Bola Tinubu who is from the region also.

The Vice President when speaking on the division the presidential ambition of some stakeholders in the South West has caused, Osinbajo said consultations are ongoing to arrive at a consensus candidate.

He further stated that Yoruba elders and leaders will handle the issue of a consensus presidential candidate, adding that consultation is ongoing.

Osinbajo while speaking said, “I believe strongly in the wisdom of Yoruba elders and leaders, and consultations are always ongoing.

“I believe that very soon we will resolve whatever differences exist and we will reach an agreement on the way forward.”
