South-East APC: What Okorocha, Nnamani, Onu, Other Presidential Aspirants Discussed At Crucial Meeting
Details of the meeting between Presidential aspirants of south-east extraction on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have emerged.
Naija News reports that Southeast APC presidential aspirant had converged at the Abuja residence of Senator Rochas Okorocha.
Aspirants in attendance include Okorocha, former Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, former Science and Technology Minister, Ogbonnaya Onu, Senator Ken Nnamani, Mrs. Uju Ken-Ohanenye.
An obvious absence was the Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, who was scheduled to be at the meeting.
One of the Governor’s aides however said Umahi is aware and in support of the meeting but couldn’t be in attendance due to an emergency which needed his attention.
In a communique read to newsmen after the meeting, Ken Nnamani said the aspirants agreed to back any Igbo candidate who gets the APC ticket and the support of Nigerians.
He said: “The president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the All Progressives Congress and its national working committee, as well as the teeming members of the party, are commended by the entire people of the south-east on their avowed commitment to the unity of Nigeria and the inclusion of all parts of Nigeria in the general architecture of the nation.
“We commend all Nigerians who are committed to the Nigerian project by the wholehearted support of the aspiration of the south-east to produce the next Nigerian president in 2023.
“In furtherance of these commitments, all aspirants herein commit to align with any of our south-east aspirants that is accepted by and chosen by other Nigerians to fly the flag of the APC.”
