2023 Elections: APC NWC Holds Meeting Ahead Of Primaries

The details of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee (NWC) meeting has emerged.

Naija News reports that members of the APC NWC met on Monday at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja days before its presidential primaries scheduled for May 29 and 30.

The meeting was chaired by the National Chairman of the party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and attended by all members of the committee.

It was learned that the meeting was convened to review the preparation for the party’s primaries and finalise arrangements for the success of the event.

At the end of the meeting, the APC NWC failed to announce a new date for the screening of its presidential aspirants.

It was, however, gathered that the committee had adjusted the timetable and schedule of activities for the primaries.

Sources at the APC Secretariat told Daily Trust that the screening was put on hold to allow room for horse-trading or negotiations among the aspirants ahead of the primaries.

While others said it was to sanitise the process that would lead to the emergence of the party’s candidate.

Recall that the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, had announced that the party would screen its presidential aspirants on May 23.

But the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, in a statement on Sunday, said the exercise was postponed, adding that a new date for the screening would be announced in due course.

However, a report emerged on Monday that the party would screen its presidential aspirants today (Tuesday).
