Former Anambra State governor and Presidential aspirant, Peter Obi has confirmed his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Peter Obi who was seen as a frontline candidate of the main opposition party quit the PDP officially on Wednesday.

In a post on his Twitter handle, the financial expert announced he has left the former ruling party without revealing his next party.

In the resignation letter he personally signed and addressed to the National Chairman of the PDP, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, Peter Obi said he has conveyed his resignation to the chairman of Agulu Ward 2, Anaocha LGA in Anambra.

He also informed the PDP Chairman of his withdrawal from the presidential race.

Peter Obi said: “It has been a great honour to contribute to nation-building efforts through our party. Unfortunately,  recent developments within our party make it practically impossible to continue participating and making such constructive contributions.

“Our national challenges are deep-seated and require that we each make profound sacrifices towards reducing our country. My commitments to rescuing Nigeria remains firm, even if the route differs.”

Naija News reports that political scientist are now speculating on Peter Obi’s next line of action.

Nigerian youths had in the past weekend come out enmass across the country on a ‘One million man’ march for the former Anambra governor.

Peter Obi might chose to join the Labour Party, go back to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) or join the fast rising New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
