Commotion As Delegates Accuse APC Executives Of Changing List To Favour Another Aspirant
Delegates in the All Progressive Congress‘ Chanchaga Federal Constituency primary election in Niger State have accused party executives of altering the delegates’ list to favour an aspirant.
The delegates who spoke under the aegis of Unity Mega Group said the party executives tried to favour a son of a former military president.
Speaking during a press briefing on Saturday in Minna, one of the delegates, Abdulkadir Zubairu, said the party had produced more than ten doctored lists for the Chanchaga constituency seat in the House of Representatives in less than a week, adding that all the changes were made to favour an unpopular aspirant.
Zubairu added that delegates waited from the morning of Friday till 4:00 am on Saturday, yet no election was held, neither were they told why the election was not held.
Also speaking, another delegate of Makera Ward, Saidu Magaji, said the primary election was set for Friday but no election was held despite the fact that delegates were present at the polling station.
He further said that one of the aspirants was being favoured by the executives of the party, adding that while delegates waited to be accredited, buses came to carry delegates uphill to the residence of the favoured aspirant where promises were made to them.
He said: “Those who thought money is everything has called the delegates to uphill Minna to give each delegate N2 million and keke Napep”
The delegates, therefore, called on the National Chairman of the APC to intervene and ensure that there was no imposition of candidates in the constituency.
