Lawan, Others In Trouble As APC Reportedly ‘Fails’ To Upload Names Of National Assembly Candidates – Source

The All Progressives Congress might be in trouble as it failed to meet the deadline for the uploading of the names of legislative candidates on the portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

A source that spoke with SaharaReporters on the development claimed that the ruling party had difficulty in uploading its National Assembly candidates on the INEC portal.

The electoral body had fixed the 17th of June, 2022 as the deadline for all political parties to upload their candidate’s names

The source claimed that APC is now relying on using the back door to save itself from not having a candidate in the forthcoming general election.

According to the source, “The APC could not upload its NASS candidates before the deadline. They are trying to use the back door to do it. INEC must not give them an extension.

“They are trying to meet with INEC tomorrow (Tuesday) to see how they can resolve it quietly.”

There has been back and forth over the name of the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan as the Yobe North Senatorial District candidate in the 2023 election.

Bashir Machina who had won the primary conducted for the ticket of the senatorial district had insisted that he remains the candidate for the senatorial district.

Machina last week Friday threatened to approach the court to stop APC from submitting the name of the Senate President to INEC.

This might have been part of the reason why the ruling party delayed in its submission to INEC.
