Ortom Speaks On Supporting Atiku In 2023 Presidential Election
The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom on Thursday evening gave his take on supporting the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 general elections.
Ortom when asked during an interview on Channels TV on Thursday if he would support Atiku, said, ” for now, the party’s decision is supreme, once the party takes decision what else do we have to do.”
The PDP chieftain who had condemned the former vice president on how he handled the selection of his running mate said he is into hibernation.
The Benue State Governor on different occasions had insisted that the Governor of River State should have emerged as the Vice Presidential candidate of the party.
Ortom when asked during the interview what he met by hibernation, he said, “I am waiting, am praying and I want a direction.
“If you ask anybody in Benue State today they will tell you that Samuel Ortom became Governor in 2015 because of God’s divine intervention, in 2019 it was the something and even now we will pray and whatever God says we will should do, we will do.”
When asked if he is for Atiku or against him, the Benue State Governor said, “Atiku is the presidential candidate of PDP, I am a member of PDP, what else will I do.
He said they have not met to discuss since Atiku nominated his running mate, adding that at the appropriate time there would be a need to sit and discuss.
When asked who Wike would be supporting he said, “Wike is on holiday, allow him to enjoy his holiday, when he comes back we can discuss that.”
Ortom added that he has pointed out the wrongs of Atiku and he believes he would reach out to Wike and the party leadership.
