All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) Celebrates Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu’s Post – Humous Birthday
The All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, has celebrated the eighty- seventh post- humous birthday of Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu with a call on Ndigbo to emulate his legacies.
ABS Correspondent Jane Joshua reports that celebration and eulogies filled the air as dignitaries, APGA faithful converged to celebrate the late icon.
Late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu who was a Nigerian Military officer and politician, served as the military governor of the Eastern region of Nigeria in 1966 and a leader of the Republic of Biafra from 1967 to 1970 died on eleventh November 2011.
In an interaction with journalists, the Director General of Inter-Party Office and Senior Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on Inter-Party Affairs, Chief Ben Obi described the icon as the igbo identity and face of the igbo nation and Nigeria at large, saying that even till death he remained the voice of the people.
Chief Obi who revealed that the late Ojukwu was a foundational father of APGA, assured that the party will continually celebrate him.
He recalled that late Ojukwu was one who had compassion for his people, stood against the injustice meted out to the igbo race and fought with his heart during the Biafran war.
Chief Obi who noted that it was worthwhile to celebrate the dead, also commended Governor Obiano who had earlier organized a remembrance ceremony for fallen heroes of the Biafra war, calling on Ndigbo to always remember those who had stood in fighting injustice in prayers.
He advised aspirants wishing to contest for Anambra gubernatorial elections to imbibe values that will continually develop the state.
