Naija News reports that there have been different reactions to the speculation that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) may field a Muslim as the running mate of its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, in the 2023 presidential election.
Some APC chieftains in their reactions have asked Nigerians to ignore the religion of the party’s presidential candidate and his running mate but focus on their competence, while religious bodies such as the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Catholic Church have rejected the plan by any political party to field a Muslim/Muslim ticket in the 2023 presidential election.

Former Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang has advised the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to adopt a unified approach to resolve the lingering dissatisfaction in the party.
It is believed that the fallout of the PDP presidential primaries and the emergence of Ifeanyi Okowa as the party’s Vice Presidential candidate has caused bad blood between Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and the party
The silence of the Rivers governor following the happenings is also believed to be causing jitters within the PDP leadership.
Reacting to the matter in a statement in Jos on Friday, Jang said that the manner in which Okowa emerged as the party’s vice-presidential candidate is nothing but sheer disregard for processes.

The 85-year-old former House of Representatives member added that there are enough vibrant politicians from the north who are also Christians that the party can choose from as a running mate to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
According to him, not only APC but any party that presents the same religion ticket in 2023 may only be setting itself up for failure as Nigerians will view such a party as unserious.
Naija News reports Ali made the submission when he was asked about the possibility of APC fielding a Muslim-Muslim ticket and his position on that during an interview with The Sun.
The former lawmaker said it’s a wrong move and went ahead to nominate the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha as a worthy candidate to emerge as the running mate to Tinubu for the 2023 presidential election.
