Tinubu To Visit Buhari In Daura, Inform Him Of Chosen Running Mate
The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu will visit President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina, on Sunday.
Naija News understands that Tinubu is scheduled to travel to Daura and pay a Sallah homage to President Buhari and members of his family.
According to NAN, the former Lagos governor would also use the opportunity to brief the President on his chosen running mate and the plan to drop Ibrahim Kabiru Masari as the interim vice-presidential candidate.
It was earlier reported that a highly-competent source in the Tinubu Campaign Organisation (TCO) had said Tinubu will unveil his running mate this week.
The source who spoke with NAN on Sunday in Abuja also confirmed the statement made by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State that the ruling party may be fielding a Muslim-Muslim ticket for the 2023 presidential race.
The TCO member who requested anonymity confirmed that the running mate is a Muslim, former Governor and Senator from the North East region of the country.
He added that Tinubu chose the competence, exposure and intellectual depth of the candidate rather than religion when he was picking the running mate.
Tinubu is set to unveil his substantive running mate ahead of the July 15 deadline stipulated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for presidential and National Assembly candidates to withdraw from the race in line with Section 31 of the Electoral Act 2022.
