2023: ‘I Don’t Want Traditional Rulers To Think I’m Ahead Of Them’ – Tonto Dikeh Speaks On Dropping Part Of Her Name
Nollywood actress and African Democratic Congress (ADC) deputy governorship candidate, Tonto Dikeh has clarified the misconception about the use of ‘King’ when she is being addressed by her friends and colleagues.
In an interview with Channels TV, Tonto disclosed that she would be dropping the name ‘King’ to avoid future conflicts with traditional rulers.
According to Tonto, the name ‘King Tonto’ is not a title but was gotten from her son’s name, King Adrea and it’s something she has never had an opportunity to explain.
Tonto added that she needed to drop the name from her campaign initiatives because she doesn’t want traditional rulers to think she was ahead of them.
She said: “I don’t call myself ‘king’, My name is King Tonto, it is a name not a title. It’s a name gotten from my son? That’s something I’ve never really gotten to explain to a lot of people but I think now I have to because I had to take it out from my campaign initiative because I did not want to traditional rulers to think me ahead of them.
“My ‘king’ comes a result of my name, as a name gotten from my son. It’s not a title in any way or form.”
