The club is currently facing a challenging situation, sitting 17th in the league standings, which places them a daunting 10 points away from the playoff positions that would allow them a shot at promotion.

Frank Lampard, a revered figure in football, particularly known for his legendary playing career at Chelsea, enters this role with an extensive background in management. He has previously held managerial positions at Chelsea, Derby County, and Everton.

His most recent tenure was as interim manager at Chelsea in 2023, where he took command following an earlier official spell from 2019 to 2021.

During his time at Chelsea, he not only led the team through a successful FA Cup run but also managed to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League.

Lampard’s predecessor at Coventry City, Mark Robins, was relieved of his duties after the Sky Blues suffered seven losses in their last 14 league matches.

Robins leaves behind a notable legacy after two stints at the club: he first took charge from 2012 to 2013 and returned in 2017, successfully steering Coventry from League Two to the Championship.

Under his leadership, the team made significant strides, culminating in a valiant effort during the 2023 playoff final, where they narrowly missed out on Premier League promotion, losing to Luton Town in a dramatic penalty shootout.
