Hansi Flick Gives Injury Update On Lamine Yamal
Barcelona’s head coach Hansi Flick has announced that the club’s winger, Lamine Yamal is back to training after weeks of injury setback.
Lamine Yamal, 17, who has garnered attention for his impressive performances this season, is set to make his return after an unfortunate three-week absence due to an ankle injury.
Yamal’s last appearance was in early November, and during his time away from the pitch, the team has struggled, managing to secure only one point from the two La Liga matches he missed.
“Lamine Yamal is back in training, and he’s ready to contribute to the team,” Flick told reporters on Friday ahead of the critical match against Las Palmas on Saturday. “We are still evaluating our options, so we haven’t determined whether he will be in the starting lineup, but he will play a role in this game.”
This season, Yamal has made a significant impact with six goals and eight assists in just 16 appearances across all competitions, showcasing his potential as one of Spain’s brightest young talents.
His absence has been felt keenly; Barcelona have yet to secure a win in the three La Liga matches he has not started, including a challenging 4-2 defeat to Osasuna back in September when he was utilized as a substitute.
As it stands, Barcelona are leading the league and holding a four-point advantage over their fierce rivals, Real Madrid. However, the Catalan giants have played one match more than the reigning champions, which adds pressure for them to maintain their position at the top.
Yamal was also unable to participate in Tuesday’s convincing 3-0 Champions League victory against Brest, where he had to watch his teammates from the stands.
In addition to giving an update on Lamine Yamal, Flick also updated fans on Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo’s recovery. Araujo is reportedly approaching full fitness after undergoing surgery in July to repair a hamstring injury sustained while representing his national team in the Copa America.
The return of both players could prove vital for Barcelona as they aim to solidify their lead in the league and progress in European competition.
