The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a man, identified as Michael Akinmolayan, for allegedly raping a female neighbour in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State.

Naija News reports that the state command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, disclosed in a statement that the victim’s brother, Ogundimu, who resides in Mushin, Lagos State, reported the crime.

She said officers from the Sango-Ota Division swiftly responded to the scene after receiving a report and took Akinmolayan into custody.

Odutola also stated that Akinmolayan allegedly struck the survivor on the crown of her head with a grinding stone, causing severe injuries, and was immediately rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

The statement read, “On November 28, the survivor’s brother, Ogundimu, who resides in Mushin, Lagos State, reported the crime. He was informed by neighbours in Sango-Ota that his sister had been seriously injured by Akinmolayan.

“The suspect inflicted head injuries during the assault. Detectives visited the scene, took photographs, and transported the survivor to Banuso Clinic, Ota, for medical treatment.

“Evidence, including blood-stained clothing and the grinding stone allegedly used in the attack, was recovered. A preliminary investigation is underway.”

Police Arrest Four Robbery Suspects In Abuja

Meanwhile, at least four suspected armed robbers were arrested recently by police operatives during a raid at the Dei-Dei timber shed in Abuja.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Commissioner, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, disclosed in a statement made available to newsmen that detectives made the arrests from the Dei-Dei ‘B’ Division as part of an operation targeting various criminal hideouts, executed under the command’s directives.

According to him, the operation was initiated based on reliable intelligence, which ultimately led to the capture of the four suspects.

The individuals arrested have been identified as Nura Halilu, Salim Mohammed, Saifullahi Usman, and Usman Mohammed.

Naija News reports that firearms and counterfeit currency were seized from the suspects during the raid.

Commissioner Disu indicated that investigations have shown that the hideout was associated with their gang leader, who remains at large, and that it also functioned as a centre for drug trafficking, stolen mobile phones, and other illicit activities.
