PDP Crisis: Wike Breaks Silence On Atiku’s Recent Interview

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has broken silence on the recent interview of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar.

Atiku had, in an interview on Arise TV last week Friday, suggested that he could not work amicably with the governor as his running mate for the 2023 presidential election.

Atiku, however, added that he would soon meet with the Rivers governor to resolve any lingering issues between them.

Speaking with reporters on Friday morning at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Wike accused Abubakar of lies and deceit in his recent interview with Arise News.

The governor, who just returned from Spain, stated that the former vice president told many lies during his controversial interview.

2023: Okowa Replies Tinubu Over Comment On His Personality

Governor of Delta State and Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ifeanyi Okowa, has slammed the presidential flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, over a recent comment.

Naija News reports that Tinubu had in a recent statement reportedly claimed that his running mate and former Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, was better than him.

Reacting, Okowa in a statement on Friday by his spokesman, Olisa Ifeajika, advised Tinubu to discuss issues confronting the nation and not individuals.

He added that the Atiku Abubakar/Ifeanyi Okowa ticket was a big threat to the ruling APC and the former Lagos Governor is scared of losing the 2023 presidential election to the PDP.

Okowa said that he was chosen as Atiku’s running mate due to his soaring political profile, his contributions to national development and his exceptional performance as governor in the last seven years.

2023: Wike Reveals Identity Of PDP Leader That Met With Him In Spain

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike on Friday revealed the identity of a leader in the Peoples Democratic Party that met with him while on vacation in Spain.

Wike mentioned the name of the PDP leader while addressing newsmen at Port Harcourt International Airport amid the crisis rocking the party.

The Rivers State Governor stated that the former president of the Senate, Bukola Saraki met with him in Spain over his grievances.

He, however, noted that Saraki was not sent by the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, but came in his personal capacity.

Wike speaking on the main opposition party setting up a reconciliation committee, claimed that Atiku has not sent any delegate to meet with him.

He challenged anyone who was sent by the PDP presidential candidate to meet with him In the crisis in the party to identify themselves.

Magnus Abe Joins SDP After Dumping APC

Former Rivers South East Senator, Magnus Abe has joined the Social Democratic Party (PDP), days after dumping the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The development was confirmed on Friday by his spokesperson, Party Benson.

Naija News recalls the Rivers State politician had fallen out with the APC after losing the party’s governorship ticket and vowed not to support the candidate that emerged from the governorship primaries, Tonye Cole.

He also has a running political battle with former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.

Abe dumped APC last week but said he would get another platform to actualize his governorship ambition. He also added that he would be confirming his next political decision later.

Confirming his defection to SDP, Abe said on Friday: “Yes I am and I have been a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

2023: Source Claims When PDP National Chairman, Ayu Would Step Down

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Iyorchia Ayu has been receiving calls in the past few months to resign from his position.

The call became stronger after Atiku Abubakar emerged as the presidential candidate of the party, coming from the same region as the party chairman.

Some aggrieved governors in the main opposition party have stood their ground that Ayu must go.

A source that spoke with Vanguard, however, stated that the PDP National Chairman would not go until after the 2023 general elections.

According to the source, the party can’t begin to reshuffle its leadership barely seven months before the election.

He claimed that the aim of some people outside the party is for PDP to fail in 2023.

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has stated that he has no plans to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) due to the crisis rocking the party.

Wike made this known to journalists on Friday at the Port Harcourt International Airport in the Rivers State capital, shortly after he returned from Spain.

The governor said he decided to keep quiet concerning the situation in the PDP because he has so much love for the opposition party.

PDP Crisis: Ortom And Okowa Meet In Public

Governor of Delta State and the Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ifeanyi Okowa, has met with his Benue State counterpart, Samuel Ortom.

The two PDP leaders met on Thursday in Abuja at the inauguration of Most Reverend Daniel Okoh as the new president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

This development comes months after Ortom in an interview on Channels TV condemned the emergence of Okowa as the running mate to the PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Ortom had accused Atiku of ignoring the counsel of a committee set up to pick the vice-presidential candidate of the party for the 2023 general elections.

APC Chieftain, Yabo Dumps Party For PDP In Sokoto

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State, Hon. Dahiru Maishanu Yabo has renounced his membership with the party and joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The politician was received into the umbrella camp on Thursday by the State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.

Naija News understands Yabo was a founding member of the APC and a member of the defunct ‘Amaechi for President’ campaign team.

Yabo who has now pledged his allegiance to the PDP disclosed that there is now a cabal in APC that every office-seeking politician or member who wants to be involved in the progress of the nation or the State must join.

Yabo who was a former Commissioner for Information, as well as Solid Minerals in the State, was received by Governor Tambuwal, his Deputy, Manir Muhammad Dan Iya, as well as the State PDP Chairman, Alhaji Bello Muhammad among other government officials at Government House, Sokoto on Thursday.

The new entrant, while giving reasons for his defection, claimed that his former party lacked internal democracy and was full of favouritism and bootlicking.

Tinubu’s Camp Challenges Buhari’s Ex-Minister To Prove Allegation Of Bribing Delegates

The Director General of Bola Tinubu Campaign Organisation, Adebayo Shittu, has challenged the former Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba to prove the allegation of vote-buying at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary.

Naija News earlier reported that the former presidential aspirant filed a lawsuit before a Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking the disqualification of APC flagbearer, Bola Tinubu and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Nwajiuba alleged that Tinubu bribed the APC delegates in dollars and also referenced a recent statement of former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, saying those who sold their votes at the APC primary are regretting it.

Responding to this, Adebayo, in an interview with PUNCH, described Nwajiubu as one of the frustrated people in APC who shunned the unveiling of its vice presidential candidate, Kashim Shettima.

He noted that Tinubu’s camp is not stopping anyone from going to court and the ex-minister can do so if he has evidence to prove the allegation of vote-buying.
