PDP Speaks On 15 NWC Members Ploting Against Ayu
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to the plan by some members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to remove the National Chairman of the Party.
Naija News had earlier reported that fifteen members of PDP NWC on Wednesday backed the call for Ayu’s removal.
The National Chairman of the party allegedly had the support of four members who insisted on him staying in office.
However, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Debo Ologunagba, on Wednesday, denied the report that there was a call for Ayu’s resignation during the meeting.
According to Ologunagba, he was present at the meeting, adding that issues related to Ayu’s resignation was not discussed.
He noted that members of the party’s NWC deliberated on the composition of the party’s presidential campaign council.
Ologunagba further stated that they also discussed reconciliation at the national and some state chapters of the party experiencing a crisis.
The PDP leader speaking on states affected by the crisis noted that the NWC members discussed issues in Osun and Kano PDP.
Ologunagba said the NWC members decided to set up reconciliation committees to handle the crisis in the state chapters of the party.
He emphasised that there was no call for Ayu to resign from office ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The camp of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike had championed the call for Ayu to resign from office.
The Governor’s camp over time condemned the lack of power distribution which has seen the North take charge of key positions in the party.
Ayu, however, has insisted that he would remain in office and won’t listen to people calling for his resignation, whom he described as children working to destroy the party.
