2023: APC Shuns Kwara, To Kick Off Presidential Campaign In Another State
The All Progressives Congress (APC) is reportedly set to officially begin campaign for its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, in another state rather than Kwara.
Naija News recalls that Tinubu alongside the Progressive Governors Forum, Presidential Campaign Council and members of the APC National Working Committee, chose Kwara State as the first place to launch the campaign.
The APC stakeholders agreed to launch Tinubu’s campaign in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital at a tripartite meeting held recently at the Transcorp Hotel in Abuja.
However, a source close to the State House told The Punch that another state is being considered as the official venue for the campaign kick-off.
The source added that the choice of Ilorin was jettisoned after a wider consultation with other key party stakeholders.
He also revealed that all the issues causing disaffection among the APC National Working Committee and the governors have been taken care of in the newly harmonised campaign council list.
The source said President Muhammadu Buhari will launch Tinubu’s manifesto and inaugurate the Presidential Campaign Council at the Presidential Villa on Friday.
He said that the inauguration, which will herald the official kick-off of the campaign, would be conducted after a short address by the President.
The source said: “Buhari, in his capacity as the chairman, will inaugurate the PCC and unveil the policy document of Tinubu. There are also strong indications that the choice of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, which was earlier chosen as the official venue for the campaign kick-off, will give way to a new one.
“For now, I can say all the grey areas causing disaffection among the APC National Working Committee and the governors have been taken care of in the newly harmonised campaign council list.”
