Medical Expert, Nduka-Onuko, Says Supplement Is Not Treatment Drug
A pharmacist in Awka, Anambra state capital, Mrs. Oby Nduka-Onuko has said that supplements are not treatment drugs.
Mrs. Nduka-Onuko who regretted that people are dying in droves because most of them are now using supplements in the place of treatment drugs, wondered why much has not been done to inform people about the recent development, which she noted is causing avoidable deaths.
The pharmacist who re-echoed that supplements only help to boost immune system and enhance general well being, urged government at all levels to set up taskforce teams, that will start arresting and prosecuting those who are deceiving people that supplements can cure diseases.
The health practitioner advised people who are hypertensive, diabetic, or those who contracted HIV, hepatitis, or people with kidney and prostate issues, to stick to their treatment drugs, as supplements are not alternative to treatment drugs but only help drugs to work efficiently.
She appealed to medical practitioners to help in enlightening the populace about the current ugly menace in the society, that is causing regrettable deaths everyday in Nigeria.
